Shirley Pacheco-Vicente

Taneisha Avatar

Head Coach – Westchester

Coach Shirley brings over 20 years of volleyball experience as both a dedicated athlete and passionate coach. She has been a proud member of the Pride Volleyball Club family for the past four years and currently serves as the Junior Varsity Coach at The Leffell School, where she focuses on building a competitive, disciplined, and positive team culture.

Volleyball has been part of Coach Shirley’s life since she was seven years old, when her mother first trained her at the park. Her playing journey continued through middle and high school, where she started on JV as a freshman and quickly advanced to varsity for the remainder of her career. She went on to play recreationally in local leagues, compete in tournaments, and later became a Division III athlete at Westchester Community College. Today, she continues to compete in indoor, grass, and beach tournaments across various states.

Beyond Pride, Coach Shirley brings over 15 years of experience working with young athletes, emphasizing not only skill development but also confidence, teamwork, and personal growth.

Her coaching philosophy centers on energy, focus, and preparation. She trains her athletes to master rotations, sharpen techniques, stay ready for every play, harness their power, and anticipate the game one step ahead. At the same time, she believes that athletes should have a voice in their journey—encouraging input, ideas, and team collaboration.

While Pace fixes cars & owns a car shop, he would rather be coaching, umpiring, or especially – fishing. Keep an eye out for his fish flops!

Tara Troxler-Thomas

Taneisha Avatar

Head Coach – Westchester

Coach Tara Thomas brings over a decade of experience and an unwavering passion for developing young volleyball players. For the past 12 years, she has coached modified volleyball and spent 10 of those years as an assistant coach for the Valhalla High School varsity team—including helping guide the 2019 squad to its first-ever State Championship. While that historic win was a proud moment, Tara’s true passion lies in nurturing new talent, helping athletes build strong foundations as they begin their volleyball journey. As the head coach of Valhalla’s modified team, Tara has played a key role in shaping the early stages of many players’ careers—instilling the fundamentals, fostering a love for the game, and preparing athletes for the more competitive junior varsity and varsity levels.

Now in her second year with Pride, Tara is thrilled to continue supporting young athletes as they develop both their skills and their confidence on the court. Tara’s own volleyball story began with resilience—after being cut from her middle school team, she dedicated herself to practicing every day. Her determination paid off as she went on to play in high school, represent her hometown of New Haven, CT in the Youth Games, and serve as team manager during her freshman year at Manhattanville College.

Off the court, Tara is a dedicated educator with 24 years of experience as an elementary school Teacher’s Aide, and she’s now in her second year as an Office Assistant in an elementary school main office. Her commitment to youth development shines through in everything she does. Being part of the Pride family has been an amazing experience for Tara. Surrounded by athletes and instructors who share her deep love for volleyball, she says, “The passion here is contagious, and I can’t wait to see what this season brings!”
